HSBC Calgary Marathon/ Half Marathon/10k

This weekend will bring some really fast runners to Calgary. The Women's Half Marathon has drawn an impressive field which will include Lioudmila Kortchaguina
and local favorite Lisa Harvey. The men's 10 km has also drawn a strong field including locals Jeremy Deere and Nathan Kendrick.

I am impressed with the quality of runners that this event is beginning to draw. Calgary is a tough place for people to race from out of town because of the elevation, so most top runners choose not to come here. However, as the prize purse continues to rise, this event will continue to draw a strong field. In addition, runners face hot and dry conditions with the weekend being the hottest if history proves out.

Coach Sandra will line up for the 10km. It has been a long time since I have run this race and what I remember is it always being really hot! Joining me will be Scott Meyerhoff and Geoff Hopfner. Oh yeah, Ryan Murray may tag along and throw this in as part of his biggest training week in preparation for Sylvan Half Ironman.

Come on out and watch the races and partake in the Stampede festivities.

Good luck to you, Scott and Geoff this weekend! I would love to be able to come down and see you guys kick some ass, but unfortunately I'm working. I'll be posting a race report from GWN soon!
